The Moment
The moment I knew was when…
I had told Wasim that my idea of a perfect date was to go to the Texas State Fair at night. There was just something about the lights, the views from the ferris wheel, and the delicious food that makes the atmosphere feel so romantic. Unfortunately, our timing was not the best, and we ended up going on the last weekend when the place was packed. It started to feel a little overwhelming but despite the crowd, Wasim was such a gentleman and made sure that I felt safe and comfortable the entire night. He made sure that I got a chance to try all the fried food (even if it meant running around in the hot Texas heat to get tickets right before the stall shut down), see the city lights from the ferris wheel, and held my hand as we rode the rides. I got to see the sweet and kind hearted side of Wasim as he did everything to make sure that I got to have my dream date. He ended the perfect night as he gave me an adorable teddy bear and nervously asked me to be his girlfriend. And that’s the moment I knew…
I knew she was the one when…
I looked over and she was laughing just as hard at some scene in the animated Addams Family movie as I was. It was that moment that I knew I had found my perfect counterpart: someone who is silly, can embrace their inner child, and knows how to enjoy something as simple as a children’s animated movie. She had agreed to go watch the movie with me on our third date, and we sat in the back surrounded by a bunch of families with their kids. We laughed the entire time and even made jokes on the drive back. My biggest thing in life is that we don’t take it too seriously and enjoy the little, silly things throughout the journey. Finding someone who matched that energy and perspective was important for me and the moment she showed the playful, silly side of herself, I knew that she was the one for me.
